Suburban Train Services Disrupted on Chennai Beach - Chengalpattu Section

Thousands of passengers experienced delays of 30–40 minutes on the Chennai Beach–Chengalpattu suburban line on Friday due to operational changes at Chennai Egmore railway station. Train services were diverted between fast and slow lines to facilitate maintenance work, leading to reduced services and severe overcrowding at major stations including Tambaram, Guindy, Chetpet, Park, and Chennai Beach.
Railway authorities stated that suburban services on the section have been reduced from 204 to 160 between February 20 and April 5 as part of redevelopment work at Egmore. The Southern Railway Chennai Division expressed regret for the inconvenience and urged passengers to plan their travel in advance.
