In Tamil Nadu, over 11.7 lakh people have applied for inclusion in the electoral roll as of Sunday (January 4).
According to the draft electoral roll published on December 19, around 97.38 lakh voters were removed from the electoral list across the state. Following this, individuals whose names were deleted, along with new voters, have been submitting applications for inclusion since December 19. The last date to apply is January 18.
To facilitate the process, special camps were conducted on Saturday and Sunday across Tamil Nadu for name inclusion and corrections. As of January 4, about 11.7 lakh applications have been received.
Election officials stated that all applications will be thoroughly verified, after which the final electoral roll will be published on February 17.
