Traffic diversions have been implemented on the Chennai–Trichy National Highway (GST Road) today following the visit of Narendra Modi to Madurantakam in Chengalpattu district. The Prime Minister is attending an NDA election campaign public meeting, and heavy vehicular movement is expected in and around the venue.

According to the Tamil Nadu Police, thousands of party workers and vehicles are likely to arrive for the rally. To prevent traffic congestion and ensure public safety, route diversions are in force from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM for heavy vehicles, and from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM for government buses and light motor vehicles.

Heavy Vehicle Traffic Changes

- Heavy vehicles travelling between Chennai and Trichy are restricted on GST Road during the diversion hours.

- Alternative routes include Vandalur–Kelambakkam–Mamallapuram–ECR–Marakkanam–Tindivanam, and interior routes via Padappai, Oragadam, Kanchipuram, Vandavasi, Tiruvannamalai, and Villupuram.

Buses & Light Motor Vehicles

- Government buses and light vehicles heading from Chennai to Villupuram/Tindivanam are advised to use East Coast Road (ECR) or Kanchipuram–Vandavasi interior routes.

- Vehicles from Villupuram to Chennai should avoid GST Road and use Marakkanam–ECR–Mamallapuram or Kanchipuram–Sriperumbudur bypass roads.

Travel Advisory

- Motorists are advised to:

- Avoid GST Road during peak hours

- Follow police instructions and diversion signboards

- Plan travel in advance to prevent delays

These temporary traffic arrangements are aimed at ensuring smooth movement and security during the Prime Minister’s visit.
