Ahead of the Diwali festival, airfares from Chennai to various destinations across Tamil Nadu and other states have surged sharply, according to a report by Dinamani. The massive rise in demand for flights, as residents rush to book tickets to return to their hometowns, has led to a three- to four-fold increase in ticket prices.
Compared to regular days, air ticket prices have spiked by 300%–400%, causing concern among travellers.

Travel agents suggest that prices may remain high until October 25, when most people complete their Diwali travel plans.
