CM Vijay Inaugurates CapitaLand’s ₹1,940 Crore Data Centre in Chennai

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay inaugurated Singapore-based CapitaLand’s data centre in Ambattur, Chennai, on Thursday, in the presence of Singapore Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong.

The company plans to invest approximately ₹1,940 crore in the project, which is expected to achieve a gross power capacity of 53 MW by the end of 2026.

CapitaLand India Trust CEO Gowrishankar Nagabooshanam said the investment marked a new milestone in the company’s 22-year association with Tamil Nadu. CapitaLand entered Chennai in 2004 with its first international technology park and has continued expanding its presence in the State.

The new facility will strengthen the company’s digital infrastructure business and support growing demand for cloud computing, artificial intelligence and digital services.

Tamil Nadu Industries Minister S. Keerthana highlighted the State’s opportunities in emerging industrial sectors, including semiconductors, and encouraged Singapore-based companies to invest in these areas.

The ₹1,940-crore project is expected to contribute to Chennai’s technology infrastructure and strengthen Tamil Nadu’s position as a destination for digital infrastructure investments.
