Singaperumal Koil Flyover Fully Operational - Major Relief for Motorists
The long-delayed flyover at Singaperumal Koil on the Chennai–Tiruchy National Highway was fully inaugurated on Sunday evening, providing long-awaited relief from chronic traffic congestion.
Constructed at a cost of ₹138.27 crore, the flyover connects GST Road (Chennai–Tiruchy NH) with the Singaperumal Koil–Oragadam Highway, easing travel for thousands commuting to Oragadam, Sriperumbudur, and over 25 nearby villages like Appur and Thirukkachur.
Originally proposed in 2008, the project faced major delays, especially after the railway portion was completed in 2011. Road connectivity work resumed only in 2021. The final stretch, now open, allows motorists to bypass the railway level crossing, reducing detours and travel time.
The inauguration was led by District Collector Sneha and MSME Minister Anbarasan. With this, the entire Singaperumal Koil–GST Road flyover is now fully functional.
