Tea and Coffee Prices Rise in Chennai as Commercial LPG Costs Surge

The price of tea and coffee has increased in Chennai as commercial LPG cylinder costs continue to rise, affecting small eateries and roadside tea stalls across the city.

Tea shop owners say the increase in commercial LPG prices has significantly raised their daily operating expenses. Due to the higher fuel cost, many tea stalls have been forced to increase the price of beverages to manage their business expenses.

In several areas of the city, the price of a cup of tea has increased from around ₹12 to ₹15, while coffee prices have risen from ₹15 to ₹20. Similarly, drinks such as Boost and Horlicks have also seen a price increase in many tea stalls.

Shop owners say that the rising cost of LPG cylinders and other expenses has made it difficult to maintain earlier prices. If LPG prices continue to increase, tea stall operators warn that beverage prices may rise further in the coming weeks.
