Chennai, Nilgiris Among 16 Tamil Nadu Districts Likely to Receive Rain Today
Residents of Chennai and several parts of Tamil Nadu can expect relief from the recent heat as the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has forecast rainfall in 16 districts today. Light to moderate rain with thunderstorms is likely in Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu, Vellore and Ranipet districts.
Heavy rain is expected in the Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Dindigul, Theni, Kanyakumari, Salem, Erode, Dharmapuri and the hill areas of Tirunelveli district. The weather change is influenced by the active southwest monsoon and a trough extending from coastal Karnataka to coastal Andhra Pradesh.
The weather department has also warned of strong winds along the Tamil Nadu coast and advised fishermen to avoid venturing into the sea until June 12. In Chennai, the sky is expected to remain partly cloudy, with chances of light to moderate rain in some areas.
