Gold Appraiser Training in Chennai 2026: Dates, Eligibility and Registration

The Entrepreneurship Development and Innovation Institute (EDII-TN), Chennai, is organising a five-day Gold Appraiser Training Programme from October 26 to 30, 2026. The programme aims to equip participants with practical skills and technical knowledge related to gold purity assessment, jewellery evaluation and gold loan appraisal.

The training will take place from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the EDII-TN campus in Ekkaduthangal, Guindy, Chennai.

What Will the Gold Appraiser Training Cover?

The programme will introduce participants to essential concepts in metallurgy, with a focus on gold and silver. Key topics include the difference between karat and carat, methods of calculating gold purity, and procedures for assessing jewellery for loans.

Participants will also receive hands-on training in jewellery-making techniques, including casting, filigree work and stone setting in both open and closed styles.

Training in Gold Testing and Hallmarking

The course will cover quality assurance practices used in the jewellery industry. Participants will learn about hallmarking procedures and standards, assaying methods, and touchstone testing techniques.

Expert assessors and industry specialists will deliver the training, providing participants with insights into gold assessment and testing practices.

Career and Business Opportunities

The Gold Appraiser Training Programme is designed to help participants explore career opportunities in the financial and jewellery sectors. Potential avenues include part-time employment in commercial banks and positions in cooperative banks that provide gold-backed loans.

Who Can Apply for the Training?

Candidates aged 18 and above, irrespective of gender, are eligible to apply. Applicants must have completed at least the 10th Standard.

A government certificate will be provided upon completion of the programme. Hostel accommodation is also available at affordable rates on a first-come, first-served basis.
