Chennai Traffic News: Bikes Parked at Ambattur Bus Stop Cause Commuter Inconvenience
Commuters using the Balaji Nagar bus stop in Kallikuppam, Ambattur, have reported long-standing issues caused by two-wheelers being parked inside the bus bay for several months. The bus stop, located near an IT company on the Ambattur–Puzhal Road, has three shelters meant to accommodate daily passengers.
However, the wide road space has reportedly encouraged the public to use the area in front of the bus shelters as a parking spot. This has led to frequent obstruction for commuters waiting for buses.
Passengers say that when bikes are lined up inside the bus bay, those waiting for buses are forced to stand behind the parked vehicles. As a result, bus drivers often miss seeing the waiting crowd and drive past without stopping.
Residents also pointed out that even after recent renovation work by the civic body — including improved lighting for safety - the issue persists. During rainy days, more people crowd the shelter, worsening the situation as they attempt to board buses quickly.
According to officials from the Greater Chennai Corporation, traffic personnel had previously towed vehicles parked along the stretch. While no new complaints have been officially recorded recently, the matter will be brought to the attention of the traffic police for necessary action to remove illegally parked bikes and ensure smooth movement for commuters.
