Summer Special Train Between Thiruvananthapuram and Velankanni Announced - Service From May 13
Southern Railway has announced a summer special train service between Thiruvananthapuram and Velankanni to manage the increased passenger rush during the holiday season. The special express train will operate on selected dates in May 2026.
According to the official statement issued by Southern Railway, the special train service has been introduced to reduce crowd congestion and provide additional travel convenience for passengers travelling between Kerala and Tamil Nadu during the summer holidays.
Thiruvananthapuram to Velankanni Special Train Schedule
The special express train (Train No. 06031) will depart from Thiruvananthapuram North railway station at 11:00 AM on May 13, May 20, and May 28, 2026. The train is scheduled to reach Velankanni at 3:00 AM the following day.
Velankanni to Thiruvananthapuram Return Service
In the return direction, Train No. 06032 will depart from Velankanni at 12:45 PM on May 14, May 21, and May 28, 2026, and arrive at Thiruvananthapuram North at 5:45 AM the next day.
Coach Composition of the Special Train
The summer special train will include multiple categories of coaches for passenger convenience:
- 2 AC Two-Tier Coaches
- 2 AC Three-Tier Coaches
- 3 AC Three-Tier Economy Coaches
- 6 Sleeper Class Coaches
- 4 General Second Class Coaches
- 1 Second Class Coach for Differently-Abled Passengers

Southern Railway officials stated that the special service is expected to benefit pilgrims and tourists travelling to Velankanni during the peak summer travel season.
