Posted on: 12/Dec/2025 9:38:21 AM

The Election Commission of India has extended the deadline for submitting filled voter enumeration forms under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll in Tamil Nadu. The updated last date for submitting the forms is December 14, providing additional time for voters who have not yet completed the process.

Statewide Enumeration Extended

The Special Intensive Revision began last month across Tamil Nadu, with door-to-door voter enumeration forming the first phase of the process. Initially scheduled to end on December 4, the deadline was later extended to December 11. Now, following a nationwide update, the Election Commission has further extended the deadline to December 14.

Progress of the Enumeration Work

Tamil Nadu currently has 6,41,14,587 registered voters. Of these, 6,41,10,380 voter enumeration forms were distributed during the revision process.
A total of 6,40,83,413 completed forms have already been uploaded into the system, reflecting a near-total completion rate.

Draft Voter List Release Date Changed

The draft electoral roll, which was earlier scheduled to be released on December 16, will now be published on December 19, according to the latest announcement by the Election Commission.

Extension in Other States and Union Territories

Along with Tamil Nadu, the deadline for submitting enumeration forms has also been extended in several states:

Gujarat – Extended till December 14

Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh – Extended till December 18

Andaman & Nicobar Islands – Extended till December 18

Uttar Pradesh – SIR extended till December 26

Kerala – Previously extended till December 18

However, in Rajasthan, West Bengal, Goa, Puducherry, and Lakshadweep, the SIR process concluded yesterday, as no further extension was announced.
