Solidarity March at Marina Beach to Honour Indian Army’s Bravery and Sacrifices
In a powerful tribute to the courage and sacrifice of the Indian Armed Forces, the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu has announced a Solidarity March to be held on Saturday, 10th May 2025 at 5:00 PM along the Marina Beach stretch in Chennai. The event follows recent successful strikes on terrorist camps in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and aims to honour the valour of Indian soldiers.
The march will begin at the Light House and culminate at the War Memorial near Napier Bridge, with an estimated 25,000 participants including ministers, dignitaries, students, and the general public.
To ensure smooth conduct of the event, traffic diversions and parking arrangements will be in place from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
Traffic Modifications:
1. Kamarajar Salai will be closed to all vehicles from War Memorial to Light House during the procession.
2. Vehicles from Thiruvanmiyur to Parry’s via Kamarajar Salai must take Sardar Patel Road - Gandhi Mandapam Road - Anna Salai.
3. Vehicles from Parry’s to Thiruvanmiyur should take Anna Salai - Teynampet - Gandhi Mandapam Road to reach Madhya Kailash.
4. MTC buses from Anna Statue will be diverted via Wellington Junction - GP Road - Tower Clock - GRH - Royapettah - Lloyds Road - RK Salai - Mandaveli - Mylapore.
5. Vehicles from Greenways Junction to Santhome will go via Mandaveli - RA Puram - TTK Road - RK Salai - Anna Salai.
6. Commercial vehicles will not be allowed from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Kamarajar Salai, Anna Salai, Santhome High Road, R.K. Salai, Cathedral Road, and Wallajah Road.
Parking Arrangements:
- Participant vehicles at Kamarajar Salai will be redirected to Swami Sivanandha Salai, Island Ground, Queen Mary’s College, Lady Wellington College, Marina Service Road, Scout Ground, and Loop Road.
- PWD Ground will serve as an additional parking area.
- VIP vehicles will access parking via Flagstaff Road.
- General motorists are advised to avoid Kamarajar Salai and plan alternative routes.
Public Cooperation Requested
Authorities have appealed to the public for cooperation and understanding during the event. The solidarity march not only commemorates the Indian military’s sacrifices but also reinforces unity and patriotism among the citizens.
