CMRL Launches Metro Connect Service Linking One Paramount to Porur Bypass Metro Station

Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has launched a new Metro Connect service linking One Paramount, a corporate campus in Porur, with Porur Bypass Metro Station. The initiative aims to improve first- and last-mile connectivity and encourage corporate employees to use Chennai Metro for their daily commute.

The new service is part of CMRL`s Phase-II Metro Connect initiative and complements the existing connection between One Paramount and Alandur Metro Station.

New Metro Connect Service in Porur

The newly introduced service is designed to provide convenient access to the operational Yellow Line through Porur Bypass Metro Station. CMRL aims to assess employee travel preferences and demand in the Porur corridor through this pilot initiative.

The service will operate using 17+1-seater air-conditioned tempo traveller vehicles, offering employees a comfortable and convenient way to reach Metro stations.

Pilot Project to Improve Chennai Metro Ridership

CMRL will closely monitor the pilot service to understand employee response, travel patterns and ridership demand. Based on the feedback and usage data, the organisation may introduce additional vehicles, increase trip frequency and expand the service to other locations.

The initiative is expected to improve public transport accessibility, reduce dependence on private vehicles and help ease traffic congestion around major employment hubs in Chennai.

CMRL Invites Corporate Partnerships

CMRL has invited IT parks, corporate campuses, educational institutions, industrial parks, hospitals, Special Economic Zones (SEZs) and business parks across Chennai to partner with it for customised Metro Connect services.

Through these partnerships, CMRL aims to strengthen multimodal integration, improve first- and last-mile connectivity and make Metro travel a preferred commuting option for Chennai`s workforce.

The new One Paramount–Porur Bypass Metro Connect service represents another step towards making Chennai Metro more accessible and convenient for daily commuters.
