Tamil Nadu Weather Update: Light to Moderate Rain, Thunderstorms Forecast Till July 27; Fishermen Warned

The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Chennai, has forecast light to moderate rainfall across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal until July 27, with moderate rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds expected in several districts on different days.

On July 23, moderate rainfall is likely over the Western Ghats districts, north coastal Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal, while the remaining parts of the State are expected to receive light to moderate rain.

The forecast for July 24 indicates moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds at isolated places in north coastal Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal, with light to moderate rainfall expected elsewhere.

On July 25, moderate rainfall is expected over the Western Ghats districts, north Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal, while the rest of the State is likely to receive light to moderate showers.

For July 26, the RMC has forecast moderate rain in Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Erode, Salem, Namakkal, Theni, Dindigul, Madurai, Sivaganga, and Pudukkottai districts, with light to moderate rainfall likely across the remaining regions.

On July 27, light to moderate rain is expected at a few places across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal.

Chennai Weather

Chennai is expected to experience a partly cloudy sky with light rain at a few places during the evening or night. The maximum temperature is likely to be around 36–37°C, while the minimum temperature may range between 26–27°C.

Fishermen Advisory

The Meteorological Department has advised fishermen not to venture into the coastal waters of south Tamil Nadu, the Gulf of Mannar, and adjoining Kanniyakumari sea areas until July 23. Strong winds of 45–55 kmph, gusting up to 65 kmph, are expected over these regions, making sea conditions unsafe.
