Dalmia Cement Deploys 24 Electric Trucks in Tamil Nadu

Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Limited, in collaboration with SwitchLabs Automobiles Pvt. Ltd. and Energy In Motion Ltd., has deployed 24 heavy-duty electric trucks to transport Petcoke, Slag and Gypsum from Karaikal Port to its manufacturing units in Dalmiapuram and Ariyalur.

Each truck is expected to cover around 12,000 km per month, with the fleet projected to travel nearly 2.9 million km annually. The project also introduces a trailer-swap model, allowing electric tractors to switch trailers during loading and unloading to reduce idle time and improve fleet utilisation.

With an estimated 70% renewable electricity mix, the fleet is expected to avoid around 3,735 tonnes of CO₂e emissions annually. Dalmia Cement and SwitchLabs are also planning additional electric mobility projects, including electric tipper trucks, to expand EV adoption across the company’s logistics operations.
