Special Buses to Operate Across Tamil Nadu for Vinayagar Chaturthi

Chennai: Special buses will be operated by the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporations across the state in view of the auspicious occasions of Muhurtham, Vinayagar Chaturthi and the weekend holidays. A total of 32,171 passengers have already made advance reservations to travel on Friday.

According to the official announcement, additional passengers are expected to travel between Chennai and various destinations across Tamil Nadu during the Vinayagar Chaturthi festival and the extended weekend from September 10 to September 14, 2026. Considering the expected rush, special buses will be operated in addition to the regular services.

From Chennai Kilambakkam, special buses will be operated to Tiruvannamalai, Tiruchirappalli, Kumbakonam, Madurai, Tirunelveli, Nagercoil, Kanyakumari, Thoothukudi, Coimbatore, Salem, Erode and Tiruppur. A total of 585 buses are planned for September 10, 1,255 buses for September 11, 1,030 buses for September 12 and 650 buses for September 13.

From Chennai Koyambedu, 240 special buses will be operated on September 11 and another 240 buses on September 12 to destinations including Tiruvannamalai, Nagapattinam, Velankanni, Hosur and Bengaluru. Another 105 buses are planned for September 13.

In addition, 200 special buses will operate from Bengaluru, Tiruppur, Erode and Coimbatore to various destinations.

From Madhavaram, 110 special buses will be operated every day from September 11 to September 13 to Kallakurichi, Tiruvannamalai, Tiruchirappalli, Kumbakonam, Vellore, Hosur and Puducherry.

To facilitate the return journey to Chennai and Bengaluru after the holidays, 765 special buses will be operated on September 14 based on passenger demand from various locations.

Advance Reservation Details

According to the current reservation details, 8,666 passengers have booked tickets to travel on Thursday, 32,171 passengers on Friday, 18,772 passengers on Saturday, 11,177 passengers on Sunday and 23,740 passengers on Monday.

As the number of reservations is expected to increase further, passengers planning long-distance journeys are advised to make advance bookings through the TNSTC website and the TNSTC mobile app to avoid overcrowding.

Adequate officials have been appointed at all bus terminals to monitor the operation of the special buses. Passengers are advised to make use of these services and plan their journeys accordingly.
