Heavy Rainfall Disrupts Normal Life

A depression over the Bay of Bengal has intensified into a deep depression. According to the Meteorological Department, the system is expected to develop into a cyclonic storm named `Arnab` over the west-central Bay of Bengal by October 26. It is also likely to make landfall between Bapatla and Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh.

Cyclone Warning Signal No. 1 has been hoisted at Puducherry Port.

Heavy rain has been lashing Puducherry, leaving residential areas and low-lying regions waterlogged. Floodwater on roads has also caused traffic congestion in several locations.

Will Other Districts Declare a School Holiday?

With heavy rainfall expected to continue in parts of Tamil Nadu, other districts may also announce holidays for October 26, depending on local weather conditions.

Parents, students and teachers are advised to follow official announcements from their respective district administrations.
