IndiGo Raises Air Ticket Prices From Today as Fuel Costs Increase

IndiGo has announced an increase in air ticket prices from today (Tuesday) due to the rise in aviation fuel prices.

The price of aviation turbine fuel (ATF) has recently increased by Rs.16 per litre. The increase has also affected air ticket fares, prompting IndiGo to raise its fuel surcharge.

Fuel Surcharge Increased Based on Distance

For domestic flights, the fuel surcharge will increase by Rs.100 to Rs.350, depending on the distance travelled.

For international flights, the additional charge will vary based on the destination and distance. For flights up to 500 km, an additional Rs.375 will be charged, while flights covering 501 to 1,000 km will attract an additional charge of Rs.600.

For distances between 1,001 and 1,500 km, the surcharge will increase by Rs.900, while flights covering 1,501 to 2,000 km will have an additional charge of Rs.1,150. For distances above 2,000 km, an additional Rs.1,300 will be charged.

For the SAARC region, the additional fare will range from Rs.1,000 to Rs.3,000. Flights to African countries will see an increase of Rs.6,000, while flights to European countries will increase by Rs.10,000.

Ticket fares for destinations in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, North Asia and East Asia will increase by up to Rs.5,500.

Fare Hike Effective From Today

The fare increase announced by IndiGo will come into effect from October 6, 2026.

IndiGo stated that aviation fuel prices have continued to rise in recent months, resulting in a 14% month-on-month increase in fuel costs.

According to the airline, aviation fuel accounts for a significant share of an airline`s operating expenses. The increase in fuel prices is therefore expected to affect the cost structure and economics of airlines, including IndiGo.

IndiGo said the fare increase was unavoidable and expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to passengers.

IndiGo, one of India`s largest airlines, operates more than 2,200 domestic and international flights every day.
