Egg Price Hits Record High: Namakkal Sets New Benchmark at 600 Paise
For the first time in history, the farm-gate price of eggs in Namakkal has touched 600 paise (₹6 per egg), marking a new all-time high. The National Egg Coordination Committee (NECC), which fixes egg procurement prices daily, announced the increase during a meeting led by NECC Zone Chairman Singaraj.
Namakkal, the country’s leading poultry hub, produces over 6 crore eggs every day. Previously, the highest recorded price was 590 paise on December 9, 2024, which repeated again on the 14th. Later, the price surged to 595 paise, breaking the earlier record - and now officially hitting 600 paise.
This price hike has brought major relief and happiness among poultry farmers facing rising feed and operational costs.
