Chennai One App Introduces Rs 1 Travel Offer to Promote Digital Payments
A special ₹1 concession ticket scheme has been launched for commuters using the Chennai One app, starting today.
Chief Minister M.K. Stalin had earlier launched the Chennai One app on September 22 to promote public transport integration in Chennai. The app enables users to book and travel on city buses, metro trains, and suburban trains, and even book autos and rental cars seamlessly.
Since its launch, over 5.5 lakh people have downloaded the app, with 8 lakh tickets purchased so far.
To further encourage cashless transactions and public transport usage, the Chennai Integrated Municipal Transport Authority (CIMTA) has introduced a one-time ₹1 ticket offer for first-time users. Commuters can buy a bus, metro, or suburban train ticket for just ₹1 via the Chennai One app using BHIM or Navi UPI payment methods.
After availing the offer once, normal fares will apply for subsequent journeys.
The initiative has been praised for making Chennai’s transport system simpler, faster, and eco-friendly, uniting all modes under the slogan “One City, One App, One Ticket.”
