Tamil Nadu to Operate 945 Special Buses for Weekend Travel Rush from June 19 to 21

To manage the expected surge in passenger traffic during the upcoming weekend, the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporations (TNSTC) and State Express Transport Corporation (SETC) will operate 945 special bus services in addition to regular services between June 19 and June 21, 2026.

A large number of people are expected to travel from Chennai and other major cities to their hometowns and tourist destinations across Tamil Nadu. To ensure smooth travel and reduce congestion, special buses have been arranged from major bus terminals.

From the Kalaignar Centenary Bus Terminus, special buses will be operated to important destinations including Madurai, Tiruchirappalli, Tirunelveli, Nagercoil, Kanniyakumari, Thoothukudi, Coimbatore, Salem, Erode and Tiruppur. A total of 350 special buses will operate on June 19 and 365 buses on June 20.

Similarly, from the Koyambedu Bus Terminus, special services will connect passengers to Tiruvannamalai, Nagapattinam, Velankanni, Hosur and Bengaluru, with 55 special buses operating on both June 19 and June 20.

In addition, 100 special buses will be operated from Bengaluru, Coimbatore, Erode and Tiruppur to various destinations. Another 20 special buses will be operated from Madhavaram during the weekend.

To facilitate the return journey after the weekend, special buses will also be operated from various towns and cities to Chennai and Bengaluru on June 21 based on passenger demand.

Passengers are advised to book tickets in advance through the TNSTC online booking portal and mobile app to avoid last-minute crowding. Transport officials have also been deployed at major bus terminals to ensure smooth operation of the special services.
