TNPSC Group 1 Exam Tomorrow: 2.23 Lakh Candidates to Appear for 46 Posts

The TNPSC Group 1 Preliminary Examination 2026 will be held across Tamil Nadu on Sunday, September 27. Around 2.23 lakh candidates have been permitted to appear for the examination, which is being conducted to fill 46 Group 1 vacancies.

The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) initially announced 26 vacancies on June 23. The vacancies included 12 Deputy Collector posts, 2 Assistant Commissioner of Commercial Taxes posts, 3 Deputy Registrar of Cooperative Societies posts, 8 District Registrar posts and 1 Assistant Commissioner of Labour post.

The Commission later increased the number of vacancies by 20, taking the total number of TNPSC Group 1 vacancies to 46.

2.23 Lakh Candidates to Appear

A total of 2,23,444 candidates applied for the TNPSC Group 1 examination. Of these, 2,23,440 candidates have been permitted to appear for the preliminary examination.

The candidates include:

- 95,984 men

- 1,27,441 women

- 15 transgender candidates

A total of 754 examination rooms have been arranged across Tamil Nadu. One chief invigilator has been appointed for each examination centre.

37,659 Candidates to Write Exam in Chennai

In Chennai, 37,659 candidates have been permitted to appear for the TNPSC Group 1 Preliminary Examination.

Among them are:

- 19,508 men

- 18,148 women

- 3 transgender candidates

A total of 128 examination rooms have been arranged in Chennai.

TNPSC Group 1 Exam Timings

The TNPSC Group 1 Preliminary Examination will be conducted from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM.

Candidates arriving after 9 AM will not be permitted to enter the examination centre. They will also not be allowed to leave the examination hall before the examination concludes at 12:30 PM.

Candidates are advised to reach their examination centres well in advance to avoid any last-minute difficulties.

Mobile Phones and Electronic Devices Banned

TNPSC has prohibited candidates from carrying mobile phones, calculators and other electronic devices into the examination centres.

Candidates appearing for the TNPSC Group 1 Exam 2026 must follow all examination guidelines and should avoid carrying prohibited items to the venue.

Strict security arrangements have been made at examination centres across Tamil Nadu, with police personnel deployed at the venues.

Only candidates appearing for the examination will be allowed inside the examination centres.

Candidates Who Clear Prelims to Appear for Main Exam

Candidates who qualify in the TNPSC Group 1 Preliminary Examination will proceed to the next stage of the selection process, the Group 1 Main Examination, as per TNPSC rules.

Candidates are advised to carry all required documents and follow the instructions provided by the Commission while appearing for the examination.
