Cyclone Arnab: Number 2 Storm Warning Signals Hoisted at 9 Ports in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry

Number 2 storm warning signals have been hoisted at nine ports across Tamil Nadu and Puducherry following the formation of Cyclone Arnab on October 26, 2026. Precautionary measures have been stepped up along the coastal regions as the cyclone is expected to intensify and move towards the Andhra Pradesh–Odisha coast, according to the India Meteorological Department`s forecast cited in the report.

Cyclone Arnab Triggers Coastal Precautionary Measures

A deep depression over the central and adjoining southeastern Bay of Bengal intensified into Cyclone Arnab on Monday. With the system developing, authorities have increased preparedness measures across coastal areas of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Andhra Pradesh.

The Number 2 storm warning signals at the nine ports indicate that port authorities and coastal communities should remain alert to the developing weather conditions.

Fishermen Advised to Stay Away From the Sea

Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea in the southeastern and southwestern Bay of Bengal, the Gulf of Mannar, and coastal areas of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry until further notice.

Those already fishing in deep waters have been urged to return immediately to the nearest safe harbour or coastal area.

Follow Official Weather Updates

Coastal residents and fishing communities should follow official weather bulletins and safety advisories as Cyclone Arnab moves across the Bay of Bengal. The cyclone`s track and intensity may affect conditions along the eastern coast, making it important to follow updates from the relevant authorities.
