Tirumala Sees Increase in Devotees on Purattasi’s Fourth Saturday

The number of devotees visiting Tirumala to worship Lord Venkateswara has increased ahead of the fourth Saturday of the Tamil month of Purattasi. Due to the heavy rush, devotees waiting for general darshan had to spend around 8 to 10 hours in queues on Friday, October 9, 2026.

During the Purattasi month, large numbers of devotees from Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karnataka, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh visit Tirumala. Devotees from Tamil Nadu account for a significant share of the visitors.

Many devotees wear yellow clothing and Govinda malas as part of their religious observances. Some undertake a pilgrimage on foot from districts such as Vellore, Tirupattur, Ranipet, Tiruvannamalai, Villupuram and Chengalpattu, completing their vows at Tirumala.

The arrival of the fourth Saturday, the following Sunday and the Dasara holiday period has contributed to the increase in the number of devotees visiting the hill shrine.
