'Apple Pay' service launched in India

After a long wait, Apple has officially launched its Apple Pay digital payment service in India. The service allows iPhone and Apple Watch users to make payments directly through their devices at supported stores and online.

Apple Pay Launches With Axis Bank

As part of the initial rollout, Apple has partnered with Axis Bank to introduce Apple Pay in India.

Customers holding eligible Axis Bank Visa and Mastercard credit cards can add their card details to the Apple Wallet app and use the contactless Tap & Pay feature for transactions.

The service is expected to expand to cards issued by other major Indian banks in the future.

Which Devices Support Apple Pay?

Apple Pay is available on supported Apple devices that meet the required software specifications.

- iPhone: iPhone XR and later models running iOS 18.

- Apple Watch: Apple Watch Series 6 and later models with the required software update.

Users should ensure that their devices are updated to the required software version before setting up the service.

How to Make Payments in Stores?

Customers can make contactless payments by bringing their iPhone or Apple Watch close to a compatible payment terminal and tapping the device.

Depending on the device and payment setup, authentication can be completed using Face ID, Touch ID or the device passcode.

Apple Pay is designed to protect payment information. Instead of directly sharing the physical card details with the merchant, transactions use an encrypted Device Account Number, helping keep the user`s actual card information protected during payments.
