Telegram Still Working in Many Places Despite India Ban Ahead of NEET Re-Test

The Indian government reportedly imposed a ban on Telegram on Tuesday ahead of the NEET re-test scheduled for June 21, with restrictions expected to remain in place until June 22. The move was aimed at preventing the circulation of question papers and other examination-related content through the messaging platform.

However, despite the announced ban, Telegram continues to function in many parts of India. Users are still able to access the Telegram mobile app, website, and web links through the platform`s t.me domain. While the app has reportedly been removed from the Google Play Store and may soon disappear from Apple`s App Store, existing users continue to access the service without major disruptions.

Experts note that Telegram employs several technologies designed to resist censorship and blocking attempts. As a result, implementing a nationwide blanket ban may prove challenging. Some online discussions suggest that India`s internet infrastructure may face difficulties in completely blocking Telegram at the ISP level.

For now, although restrictions have been announced, Telegram remains operational for many users across the country, leading to confusion over the effectiveness of the ban and whether a complete shutdown of the platform can be enforced.
