Chennai Metro Free Ride for Ilaiyaraaja Concert Ticket Holders on May 30 & 31

In a special initiative for music lovers, Ilaiyaraaja concert attendees can now travel free on the Chennai Metro Rail during the two-day live music event scheduled on May 30 and 31 at Nehru Outdoor Stadium.

Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) announced that all valid concert ticket holders will receive a dedicated QR-code metro pass from the event organisers via email and WhatsApp. The QR code will function as a metro travel pass, allowing passengers to travel free from any operational metro station in Chennai to Puratchi Thalaivar Dr. M.G. Ramachandran Central Metro Station, which is located near the concert venue.

The same QR code can also be used for the return trip after the concert. However, CMRL clarified that separate passes will be issued for each concert day. A May 30 QR pass will only be valid on May 30, while a May 31 pass can only be used on May 31.

To ensure smooth transportation for the large number of expected attendees, Chennai Metro has extended its train operations on both concert days. The last metro services from Central Metro station towards Airport, Wimco Nagar Depot, and St. Thomas Mount will depart at midnight.

The announcement has brought excitement among fans of Ilaiyaraaja, as the initiative is expected to reduce traffic congestion and provide convenient late-night transport for concert-goers across Chennai.
