India’s Wind Energy Sector Set for 8 GW Installations in FY27

Chennai, October 8, 2026: India’s wind energy sector is entering a new phase of rapid growth, with annual installations projected to reach 8 GW in FY2026-27 and rise to 13.2 GW by FY2030-31. Cumulative wind capacity is expected to reach around 107 GW by 2030-31.

India currently has 59.2 GW of installed wind capacity, with another 43 GW under construction, providing visibility of more than 102 GW. The ₹1.86 lakh crore Green Energy Corridor Phase-III is expected to strengthen transmission infrastructure and support the integration of expanding renewable capacity.

At Windergy India 2026, more than 400 exhibitors from 20+ countries are showcasing wind technologies, components and supply-chain solutions. The industry has also developed over 24 GW of annual manufacturing capacity, while wind exports reached ₹12,800 crore in FY2025-26.

Union Minister Pralhad Joshi said India’s record 6.05 GW wind installation in FY2025-26 is expected to be surpassed in FY2026-27, supporting the country’s goal of achieving 100 GW of installed wind capacity by 2030.

Industry leaders also highlighted the need to strengthen domestic manufacturing, indigenise critical components and expand India’s role as a global hub for wind turbines, components, technology and engineering.
