Gold prices in Chennai witnessed a sharp increase in the evening, with the price of gold rising by ₹1,280 per sovereign (8 grams) compared with the previous rate.
The price of 22-carat gold has increased to ₹14,200 per gram, up by ₹160. Accordingly, the price of one sovereign (8 grams) has climbed to ₹1,13,600.
Interestingly, the gold price had declined by ₹180 per gram in the morning. However, prices reversed direction in the evening, gaining ₹160 per gram.
Meanwhile, the silver price remained unchanged at ₹255 per gram in Chennai.
