Tamil Nadu Weather Update: Rain Expected in Several Areas for the Next 6 Days

The Chennai Meteorological Centre has announced that several parts of Tamil Nadu are likely to receive rainfall over the next six days due to changing weather conditions.

According to the latest weather report, some parts of Tamil Nadu received rainfall in the last 24 hours. The highest rainfall of 44 mm was recorded in Thammampatti, Salem district.

The weather department said that due to variations in westerly winds, light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is expected in some areas of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal. Some western ghat districts and northern interior parts of Tamil Nadu may also experience moderate rain with strong winds reaching speeds of 40–50 kmph.

Rain Forecast

June 25, 2026: Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely in several parts of Tamil Nadu. Coastal areas, western ghat districts, Puducherry, and Karaikal may experience moderate rain along with strong winds.

June 26, 2026: Rain with thunder and lightning is expected in some parts of Tamil Nadu and Karaikal. Southern districts, western ghat regions, northern interior areas, and Puducherry may receive moderate rain with strong winds.

June 27, 2026: Moderate rainfall is likely in parts of southern Tamil Nadu, western ghat districts, northern interior areas, and Puducherry. Heavy rain is possible in the hilly regions of Coimbatore and Theni, as well as some areas of the Nilgiris.

June 28, 2026: Moderate rain may occur in delta districts, northern Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal. Heavy rain is possible in isolated areas of districts including Tiruvallur, Kanchipuram, Ranipet, Vellore, Tiruvannamalai, Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Dindigul, Theni, Virudhunagar, Tenkasi, Tirunelveli, and Kanniyakumari.

June 29, 2026: Moderate rain is expected in some western ghat areas. Heavy rain may occur in parts of Coimbatore, Theni hills, and Nilgiris.

June 30, 2026: Light to moderate rain is likely in some western ghat districts.

Temperature Forecast

The weather department stated that there is no major change expected in maximum temperatures across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal from June 24 to June 28. Temperatures are likely to remain close to normal levels.

Chennai Weather Forecast

June 24: Chennai will have partly cloudy skies. Some areas may receive light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning during evening or night hours. Maximum temperature is expected to be around 37–38°C, while the minimum temperature may remain around 28–29°C.

June 25: Partly cloudy conditions are expected, with chances of light to moderate rain in some parts of the city during evening or night. Maximum temperature may be around 38–39°C.

g>Fishermen Warning

The weather department has advised fishermen to avoid venturing into certain sea areas due to strong winds.

From June 24 to June 26, strong winds of 40–50 kmph, occasionally reaching 60 kmph, are expected over the south Tamil Nadu coastal areas, Gulf of Mannar, and adjoining Kanniyakumari sea regions.

On June 26 and June 27, strong winds of 45–55 kmph, occasionally reaching 65 kmph, may occur over parts of the southwest Bay of Bengal.

Similar strong wind conditions are expected in parts of the Arabian Sea, including Kerala-Karnataka coastal areas and Lakshadweep regions, on June 27 and June 28.

Fishermen are advised not to enter these sea areas during the mentioned period for safety reasons.
