Tamil Nadu Weather Update: Moderate Rain Likely in Several Areas from September 24 to 29

The Chennai Meteorological Centre has forecast the possibility of moderate rainfall at one or two places in Tamil Nadu from Thursday, September 24, to Tuesday, September 29.

According to the weather department`s latest bulletin, a deep depression over the central-west and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal is expected to move west or northwestwards towards the coastal areas of north Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha. The system is likely to approach the coast between Visakhapatnam and Gopalpur near Kalingapatnam.

Rain Forecast for Tamil Nadu

On Thursday, September 24, moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds is likely at one or two places in the Western Ghats districts, as well as Chennai, Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu, Tiruvallur and Ranipet districts.

Other parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal are expected to experience generally dry weather.

On Friday and Saturday (September 25 and 26), isolated areas of Tamil Nadu may receive moderate rainfall.

On Monday and Tuesday (September 28 and 29), moderate rain is likely at one or two places in the Western Ghats districts and northern Tamil Nadu.

Chennai Weather Forecast

In Chennai and its suburbs, the sky is expected to remain partly cloudy on Thursday. Some parts of the city may receive moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning during the evening and night.

Residents are advised to remain cautious during thunderstorms and follow the latest weather updates.

Fishermen Warning

A warning has also been issued for fishermen along the Tamil Nadu coast.

On Thursday, September 24, squally winds reaching speeds of up to 65 kmph may prevail along the coastal areas of north Tamil Nadu.

Winds of up to 60 kmph are likely over the coastal areas of south Tamil Nadu, the Gulf of Mannar and adjoining Kanniyakumari Sea.

Fishermen are advised to follow official weather warnings before venturing into the sea.

Rainfall Recorded in Tamil Nadu

Tamil Nadu received rainfall in several places, with Gunamangalam and Melapalayur in Cuddalore district recording the highest rainfall of 30 mm each.
