Christian Church Workers in Tamil Nadu Can Register Online for Welfare Benefits

The Tamil Nadu government has announced that catechists and employees working in Christian churches can now register as members of the Christian Church Workers Welfare Board and apply for welfare schemes through an online portal.

In a statement, Chennai District Collector S. Malathi Helen said that welfare assistance has been provided to registered members of the board since 2022.

The welfare schemes include:

- Accident compensation

- Natural death assistance

- Funeral assistance

- Educational assistance

- Marriage assistance

- Maternity assistance

- Spectacle reimbursement

- Old-age pension

The Collector said that individuals belonging to the Christian community, aged 18 to below 60 years, who work in Christian churches without regular monthly salaries are eligible to register. Eligible beneficiaries include catechists, clergy assistants, disciples, choir singers, cemetery workers, employees of Christian orphanages, and staff working in leprosy rehabilitation homes.

To simplify registration and welfare applications, the Tamil Nadu government has launched an online portal. Eligible members can now apply through the official website and avail themselves of the welfare benefits.

Members from Chennai district are encouraged to register online and make use of the available schemes. For further information, applicants may contact the District Backward Classes and Minorities Welfare Officer at the Chennai District Collectorate.
