TNSTC to Operate 1,635 Special Buses Across Tamil Nadu for Weekend Rush

To handle the expected increase in passenger traffic during the upcoming weekend, the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporations (TNSTC) will operate 1,635 special buses across the State from July 24 to July 26 (Friday to Sunday), in addition to regular bus services.

According to the General Manager (Operations) of the State Express Transport Corporation (SETC), the additional buses have been arranged to meet the surge in travel demand as thousands of passengers head to their native places for the weekend.

Over 15,900 Passengers Have Already Booked Tickets

So far, 15,963 passengers have made advance bookings from Chennai and other cities, and the number is expected to increase further over the next few days.

The advance booking details are:

Friday: 6,487 passengers
Saturday: 2,387 passengers
Sunday: 7,089 passengers

Special Buses from Kilambakkam

From the Kalaignar Centenary Bus Terminus (Kilambakkam):

- 395 special buses will operate on Friday
- 330 special buses will operate on Saturday

These buses will serve major destinations including:

- Tiruvannamalai
- Tiruchy
- Kumbakonam
- Madurai
- Tirunelveli
- Nagercoil
- Kanniyakumari
- Thoothukudi
- Coimbatore
- Salem
- Erode
- Tirupur

Additional Services from Koyambedu and Madhavaram

From Koyambedu, 120 special buses each will operate on Friday and Saturday to:

- Tiruvannamalai
- Nagapattinam
- Velankanni
- Hosur
- Bengaluru

Additionally, 200 special buses have been arranged from Bengaluru, Tirupur, Erode, and Coimbatore to various destinations across Tamil Nadu.

From Madhavaram, 25 special buses will operate on both Friday and Saturday to:

- Kallakurichi
- Tiruvannamalai
- Polur
- Puducherry

Return Services on Sunday

To facilitate the return journey after the weekend, 420 special buses will operate from various parts of Tamil Nadu to Chennai and Bengaluru on Sunday.

Officials have also deployed additional staff at major bus terminals to monitor operations and ensure smooth passenger movement during the weekend rush.

Passengers are advised to book their tickets in advance through the TNSTC mobile app or the official TNSTC website to avoid last-minute inconvenience.
