Jio - bp Hikes Petrol Prices by ₹5 and Diesel by ₹3 Per Litre

Private fuel retailer Jio-bp has increased petrol prices by ₹5 per litre and diesel prices by ₹3 per litre, adding to the burden on vehicle owners. The price revision follows a similar increase announced by Nayara Energy earlier in October 2026.

According to the report, the revised prices apply across Jio-bp`s 2,304 fuel stations nationwide. Nayara Energy had previously raised petrol prices by ₹5 per litre and diesel prices by ₹3 per litre at more than 7,000 outlets on October 3.

Meanwhile, state-owned oil marketing companies, including Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL), Bharat Petroleum (BPCL) and Hindustan Petroleum (HPCL), have retained their existing fuel prices. This has widened the price difference between private and public-sector fuel stations.

Why Have Petrol and Diesel Prices Increased?

Rising international crude oil prices are cited as a major reason for the increase. Brent crude prices have crossed $103 per barrel amid geopolitical tensions involving the United States, Iran and other countries in the Middle East.

Supply disruptions and concerns over the security of oil transportation routes have also contributed to uncertainty in global energy markets. These developments can increase fuel procurement costs for oil companies, putting pressure on retail prices.

State-Wise Petrol and Diesel Prices at Jio-bp Outlets

The report lists the following prices after the revision:

State Petrol Price Per Litre Diesel Price Per Litre
Haryana ₹109.80 ₹97.75
Punjab ₹108.54 ₹99.19
Rajasthan ₹113.91–₹117.65 ₹97.15–₹100.78

Prices may vary within a state because of local taxes and other applicable charges.

Petrol and Diesel Prices in Major Cities

The following prices are reported for public-sector fuel stations, where rates remained unchanged:

City Petrol Per Litre Diesel Per Litre
Chennai ₹107.77 ₹99.55
Mumbai ₹111.21 ₹97.83
New Delhi ₹102.12 ₹95.20
Kolkata ₹113.51 ₹99.82
Bengaluru ₹111.68 ₹99.56
Hyderabad ₹115.69 ₹103.82

What Does the Price Hike Mean for Consumers?

The ₹5 increase in petrol and ₹3 increase in diesel at Jio-bp outlets could raise daily commuting and transportation expenses for customers who refuel at these stations. The impact may also extend to businesses that depend on road transport.

However, fuel prices differ by retailer, location and local taxes. Consumers should check the latest rates at their nearest fuel station before refuelling, as the prices listed above are based on the report dated October 13, 2026.
