The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light to moderate rainfall across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal over the next few days, with heavy rain expected in Chennai and several northern districts. The weather system has developed due to a trough extending from coastal Andhra Pradesh to central Maharashtra through a cyclonic circulation over the Marathwada region.
Heavy Rain Alert for June 27
According to the latest forecast, Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu, Tiruvannamalai, and Ranipet are likely to receive heavy rainfall at isolated places on Saturday (June 27). Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds with speeds of 40 to 50 kmph are also expected.
Apart from these districts, several other parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal are expected to experience light to moderate rain with thunderstorms.

The IMD has forecast light to moderate rainfall across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal.
