Chennai Gold Prices Soar Over 40% from August 13, 2024 to August 13, 2025
Gold prices in Chennai have risen sharply over the past year. 24K pure gold is now priced at ₹10,134 per gram, up 44.4% from ₹7,020 on August 13, 2024. 22K standard gold has climbed to ₹9,290 per gram, a 41.5% rise from ₹6,565 a year ago.

The increase is mainly due to global economic uncertainties, a weaker Indian rupee, and strong investment demand. While jewellery purchases have slowed because of the high rates, investment in gold bars, coins, and ETFs has grown. Wedding-related buying continues to provide some support to the market.
Analysts believe prices may remain high in the coming months, depending on global market trends and the movement of the rupee.
