FIIS Partners with UK-Based INTO Qualifications to Offer International Pathway Programmes in Coimbatore

Coimbatore based Firebird Institute of International Studies becomes INTO Qualifications’ first and only authorised delivery partner in India, with the inaugural batch scheduled to begin in January 2027.

The Firebird Institute of International Studies (FIIS) has announced a strategic academic partnership with UK-based INTO Qualifications to offer internationally recognised pathway programmes from its campus at Chettipalayam, Coimbatore.

Through this partnership, FIIS will become the first and only authorised delivery partner for INTO Qualifications in India. Admissions are currently open for the inaugural batch, which is scheduled to commence in January 2027.

The initiative aims to help Indian students prepare for undergraduate education overseas by providing an international academic pathway within India before they progress to universities abroad.

Two International Pathway Programmes for Students

The partnership will introduce two academic routes designed to prepare students for higher education in international universities.

The International Foundation Programme (IFP) is a Level 3 qualification intended primarily for Class 12 graduates seeking progression to undergraduate programmes in the UK, the US and other international destinations.

The International Year One (IYO) is a Level 4 Advanced Diploma designed to enable eligible students to progress directly into the second year of relevant undergraduate degree programmes at UK universities, subject to university-specific entry requirements.

INTO Qualifications will oversee qualification design, academic standards, assessment frameworks, moderation and quality assurance. FIIS will deliver the programmes through classroom teaching, student mentoring and campus-based academic support.

The International Foundation qualification is externally benchmarked by Ecctis and operates within the UK Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) level structure.

International Education with Local Support

The programmes are designed to help students adapt to international academic expectations while studying in India. FIIS plans to maintain small class sizes, capped at 20 students, to provide individual attention and personalised mentoring. Optional IELTS preparation support will also be available.

Students will have access to INTO Qualifications’ network of universities in the UK, the US and other destinations, subject to meeting the relevant academic and English-language requirements.

Studying the initial phase in India could also reduce overall overseas education expenses, including tuition and living costs. For eligible US university pathways, students may be able to transfer up to 30 credits, depending on the institution, degree programme and modules completed.

FIIS will additionally support eligible students with university scholarship applications, provide guidance to families exploring education loans and facilitate local internship opportunities to help students gain practical exposure.

FIIS Highlights Global Education Vision

Commenting on the partnership, Mrs. Sujana Abirami Sundaramaran, Managing Trustee of FIIS, said the collaboration would bring an internationally recognised academic framework to Coimbatore while providing students with a supportive learning environment closer to home.

She added that the initiative aims to help students prepare for international university education with greater confidence and a strong academic foundation.

Dr. R. Nandagopal, Chief Operating Officer of FIIS, said the partnership would offer a structured and cost-effective route for students aspiring to study abroad. He highlighted the combination of INTO Qualifications’ academic standards and university progression network with FIIS’s small class sizes, international faculty and mentoring support.

Admissions Open for January 2027 Intake

With admissions underway, the FIIS–INTO Qualifications partnership aims to create a structured pathway for Indian students planning to pursue undergraduate education overseas.

By combining international academic qualifications with local teaching, mentoring and progression guidance, the initiative seeks to make overseas university preparation more accessible while helping students and families plan their educational journey with greater clarity.
