Tambaram, Chengalpattu Trains Temporarily Operated from Chennai Park Station

Following the derailment of an electric suburban train at Chennai Fort Railway Station, trains to Tambaram and Chengalpattu are being temporarily operated from Chennai Park and Egmore railway stations.

A suburban electric train travelling from Tambaram towards Chennai Beach derailed at around 10:40 AM today when one of its coaches moved off the track while the train was departing Chennai Fort Railway Station.

Following the incident, train services between Tambaram and Chennai Beach were temporarily suspended. Electric trains travelling from Tambaram and Chengalpattu towards Chennai Beach were stopped midway, causing difficulties for people returning to Chennai after the continuous holidays.

As an alternative, trains to Tambaram and Chengalpattu are now being temporarily operated from Chennai Park and Egmore railway stations instead of Chennai Beach. Some trains are also being operated slowly on another route from Chennai Beach.

Southern Railway employees are engaged in the work of placing the affected coach back on the track and carrying out repairs.
