Chennai Weather Update: Heavy Rain Expected in Chennai, Chengalpattu and Tiruvallur

The Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre has forecast heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds in parts of Tamil Nadu. Chengalpattu and Villupuram are likely to receive heavy rainfall today, while Chennai, Tiruvallur, Chengalpattu, Villupuram and Nilgiris may experience heavy rain in isolated areas tomorrow, August 19.

Heavy Rain in Chengalpattu and Villupuram Today

A weak low-level atmospheric trough is prevailing over the coastal areas of Tamil Nadu. Due to this weather system, isolated areas of Chengalpattu and Villupuram districts may receive heavy rain with thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds today.

Moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds is also likely in parts of the Western Ghats districts, northern coastal Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.

Other parts of Tamil Nadu may receive light rain with thunderstorms at a few places.

Chennai Weather Forecast for Tomorrow

According to the latest Chennai weather update, heavy rain is expected at isolated places in Chennai, Tiruvallur, Chengalpattu, Villupuram and Nilgiris on August 19.

The Chennai weather forecast also indicates that parts of northern coastal Tamil Nadu, the Western Ghats, Puducherry and Karaikal could receive moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and strong winds.

The weather department has also warned of strong winds over parts of the south Tamil Nadu coast and the Gulf of Mannar until August 21.

Winds may reach speeds of 45 to 55 kmph, occasionally gusting up to 65 kmph. Coastal residents and fishermen are advised to follow the latest weather updates and official warnings.
