India’s national carrier Air India has announced a hike in air ticket prices for both domestic and international flights due to the rise in aviation fuel costs triggered by the ongoing tensions between Iran, Israel, and the United States.

According to the airline’s official statement, the revised fares came into effect on March 12 and will be implemented in three phases.

In the first phase, fares for domestic flights and SAARC countries such as Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Nepal, and Bhutan have been increased by ₹399.

Flights to Middle East and West Asian countries will see a $10 (around ₹920) increase, while Southeast Asia routes will have a $20 (around ₹1,840) hike. Flights to African destinations will see an increase of $30 (around ₹2,760).

Previously, flights operating from India to Singapore did not include fuel surcharges. However, the airline has now announced that fuel charges will also be applied for Singapore routes.

In the second phase, starting from March 18, additional fare hikes will be implemented for long-haul routes. Flights to Europe will see a $25 (around ₹2,300) increase, while flights to North America and Australia will have a $50 (around ₹4,594) fare increase.

For the third phase, fare revisions for flights to Japan, Hong Kong, and South Korea will be announced later.
