Tamil Nadu Police Sets Up Internal Vigilance Cells in All Districts

The Tamil Nadu Police has announced the formation of Internal Vigilance Cells in all districts and cities to strengthen transparency, integrity and public confidence in the department.

According to an official communication from DGP/Head of Police Force Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal, the cells will receive and enquire into complaints related to corruption, misconduct, abuse of authority and other unethical practices involving police personnel.

District and city-wise phone and WhatsApp numbers have been provided so that citizens can report complaints directly to the respective vigilance cells.

The police have assured that the identity of complainants and witnesses will be kept confidential. Complainants will also be protected from harassment, intimidation or retaliation for filing complaints.

The DGP has encouraged people to come forward without fear, assuring that complaints will be handled in a fair, impartial and timely manner. Senior police officers will regularly monitor the functioning of the Internal Vigilance Cells.

The Greater Chennai Police (GCP) had already established a vigilance cell, with the public able to send WhatsApp complaints to 78717 23000.
