Tamil Nadu Weather Alert: Temperature to Rise by Up to 7°F Above Normal Till July 16, IMD Warns

The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Chennai, has warned that maximum temperatures across Tamil Nadu could remain up to 7°F above normal from July 13 to July 16, increasing the risk of heat-related discomfort for the public.

According to the weather department, dry weather is expected to prevail across most parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal, while the Western Ghats districts may receive light to moderate rainfall until July 18 due to changes in westerly wind patterns.

With summer showers remaining below normal this year, many districts, including Chennai, Tiruvallur, and Chengalpattu, have received only isolated evening showers. As a result, daytime temperatures continue to remain high, causing discomfort to residents.

In Chennai, the sky is expected to remain partly cloudy, with the maximum temperature likely to reach 39°C. The weather department has advised people to avoid prolonged exposure to the sun during peak afternoon hours, stay hydrated, and take necessary precautions against heat-related illnesses.

During the last 24 hours, Chinnakallar in Coimbatore district recorded the highest rainfall in the State with 2 cm, while most other regions witnessed dry weather.
