Tamil Nadu Weather: Heavy Rain Expected in Erode, Namakkal and Madurai Today

The Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre has forecast heavy rain in parts of Erode, Namakkal and Madurai districts today, accompanied by thunder, lightning and strong winds.

According to the weather bulletin, a low-level wind discontinuity is prevailing at around 0.9 km altitude, extending from north interior Karnataka to Tamil Nadu through south interior Karnataka. This weather system is likely to bring rainfall to several parts of Tamil Nadu.

Moderate Rain in Several Districts

Moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder, lightning and strong winds is likely at isolated places in the Western Ghats districts, as well as Tirupattur, Vellore, Ranipet, Kallakurichi, Tiruvannamalai, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Salem, Karur, Tiruchirappalli, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Dindigul, Virudhunagar, Pudukkottai and Sivaganga.

Chennai Weather Forecast

In Chennai and its suburbs, the sky is expected to remain partly cloudy today. Some parts of the city may receive light to moderate rain with thunderstorms during the evening or night.

The maximum temperature in Chennai is expected to remain around 36–37°C, while the minimum temperature is likely to be around 27–28°C.
