Poonamallee to Vadapalani Metro Fare: Ticket Prices Revealed

Details of the proposed Chennai Metro Rail fare from Poonamallee to Vadapalani have emerged ahead of the expected launch of the service.

As part of Phase II of the Chennai Metro Rail project, work on the 14.64-km Porur–Vadapalani section has been completed. The route has also received clearance from the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) for train operations.

Despite the completion of the work and receipt of the safety clearance, the service has reportedly remained pending for around seven months.

According to reports, the authorities are waiting for a date for Prime Minister Narendra Modi to formally flag off the Metro Rail service.

Meanwhile, details of the proposed fares for the Poonamallee–Vadapalani Metro route have emerged. According to the information available, the fares are expected to be:

- Poonamallee to Vadapalani: Rs. 40

- Poonamallee to Porur Junction: Rs. 30

- Poonamallee to Kattupakkam: Rs. 20

- Poonamallee to Poonamallee Bus Terminus: Rs. 10

Chennai Metro Phase II Project

The Chennai Metro Phase II project includes a total of 128 stations. Around 43 km of the network is being developed as underground corridors, while approximately 75 km will be elevated.

As part of the initial Phase II works, the 14.6-km Yellow Line between Vadapalani and the Poonamallee Bypass has been completed with 14 stations. The Commissioner of Railway Safety granted approval for train operations on this corridor in February.

The next major focus is the 26-km Metro corridor between Lighthouse and the Poonamallee Bypass, where construction work is progressing as part of the Phase II project.
