NEW DELHI: India observes National Sports Day on August 29, 2026, commemorating the birth anniversary of legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand.

Remembering Major Dhyan Chand
Major Dhyan Chand represented India at the 1928, 1932 and 1936 Olympic Games, winning gold medals with the Indian hockey team on all three occasions. His exceptional ball control and goal-scoring skills earned him the titles “Hockey Wizard” and “The Magician.”
