Chennai Flight Services Reduced as Aviation Fuel Prices Surge

A sharp increase in Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) prices following recent international tensions and rising crude oil prices has led airlines to reduce flight operations from Chennai Airport and several other cities across India.

Major carriers including Air India and IndiGo have reportedly scaled back both domestic and international flight services in an effort to manage rising operating costs. The reduction in services has also resulted in a significant increase in airfares on several routes.

As part of the operational adjustments, some flights connecting Chennai with international destinations such as Singapore, Dubai, Sharjah, and destinations in Sri Lanka have reportedly been cancelled or reduced.

Several passengers planning overseas travel have been affected, with some flight cancellations occurring at short notice. The sudden changes have caused inconvenience to travellers who had already finalized their travel plans.

Industry observers note that airlines are closely monitoring fuel costs and market conditions, and further schedule adjustments may be made if crude oil and aviation fuel prices continue to remain elevated.
