Salem to Chennai Flights from November 1: IndiGo Announces Twice-Daily Services

Salem airport is set to resume twice-daily flight services to Chennai from November 1, 2026, with IndiGo planning morning and evening services. The announcement comes as the existing Salem–Chennai flight schedule has been reduced to three days a week until October 31.

The revised schedule is expected to benefit business travellers, students and passengers who depend on air connectivity between Salem and Chennai.

Salem - Chennai Flight Timings from November 1

According to the announced schedule, flights between Chennai and Salem will operate twice daily.

Morning service:

- Chennai departure: 10:50 am

- Arrival at Salem: 11:50 am

- Departure from Salem: 12:10 pm

- Arrival at Chennai: 1:50 pm

Evening service:

- Chennai departure: 4:00 pm

- Arrival at Salem: 5:00 pm

- Departure from Salem: 5:20 pm

- Arrival at Chennai: 6:20 pm

Passengers are advised to confirm the timings and availability with IndiGo before booking, as flight schedules may change.

Salem Airport Flight Services to Other Cities Suspended

Salem`s Kamalapuram Airport previously offered flights to Chennai, Kochi, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.

Alliance Air discontinued its Kochi and Bengaluru services under the UDAN regional connectivity scheme after the completion of its three-year contract. IndiGo has also announced the discontinuation of its UDAN services connecting Salem with Bengaluru and Hyderabad.

As a result, Chennai is expected to remain the only destination served by direct scheduled flights from Salem from November 1.

Demand for More Flights from Salem

The reduction in connectivity to major cities has raised concerns among industrialists, traders and college students who depend on air travel for business, education and other purposes.

Local stakeholders have urged the Tamil Nadu government to approach the Union Civil Aviation Ministry to restore regional flight connections under the UDAN scheme and improve connectivity from Salem Airport.
