Chennai Traffic Diversions on September 9 for Tirupati Thirukudai Padayatra

Chennai: The Greater Chennai Traffic Police (GCTP) has announced traffic diversions in several parts of the city for the Tirupati Thirukudai Padayatra procession on Wednesday, September 9. Thousands of devotees are expected to participate in the procession.

The traffic restrictions will come into effect from 8 am on September 9 and remain in place until the procession passes through the respective areas.

Traffic Diversions in Chennai

From 8 am, vehicular movement will be restricted on NSC Bose Road, Mint Road and connecting roads until the procession crosses Wall Tax Road. Motorists can use EVR Salai, Rajaji Salai, Wall Tax Road, Basin Bridge Road and Prakasam Salai as alternative routes.

From 3 pm, vehicles will not be allowed on Wall Tax Road and connecting roads until the procession crosses Elephant Gate Bridge. Alternative routes include Basin Bridge Road, Mint via Prakasam Salai, Rajaji Salai, EVR Salai and Muthuswamy Salai.

As the procession moves through Choolai, Perambur Barracks Road and Otteri, traffic will be diverted at several junctions, including DeMellows Point, Choolai Roundtana, Hunters Road Junction, Doveton Junction and Millers Road-Bricklin Road Junction.

Traffic diversions will also be implemented around Otteri Bridge, Konnur High Road, Medavakkam Tank Road and ICF Junction.

At Konnur One Point, vehicles approaching from Otteri Bridge and Medavakkam Tank Road will be diverted towards Cooks Road and other alternative routes. Vehicles from ICF Junction will be diverted towards New Avadi Road, while traffic from MVT Road and VP Colony Junction will be diverted towards VP Colony (South).

Police have advised motorists to plan their journeys in advance and use alternative routes to avoid delays during the Tirupati Thirukudai Padayatra in Chennai.
