Tamil Nadu politics witnessed another major development as Udhayanidhi Stalin was officially elected as the DMK Legislature Party Leader. The announcement was made by M. K. Stalin, marking a significant moment in the party’s post-election political strategy.

Along with Udhayanidhi Stalin’s appointment, senior leader K. N. Nehru was named Deputy Leader, while E. V. Velu was appointed as the party whip in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly.

The announcement comes after the recently concluded Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections resulted in a hung Assembly. TVK emerged as the single largest party with 108 seats, while DMK secured 59 seats and AIADMK won 47 constituencies. Since no party crossed the majority mark of 118 seats in the 234-member Assembly, intense political discussions followed across the state.

TVK leader Vijay received support from Congress, VCK, CPI, CPM, and IUML, increasing the alliance strength to 120 MLAs. Following this, Vijay staked claim to form the government and was invited by Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar to take charge as Chief Minister.

Vijay was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu along with nine cabinet ministers. Meanwhile, MK Stalin congratulated the new Chief Minister and expressed hope that Tamil Nadu’s development journey would continue under the new administration.

With the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly set to convene today for the swearing-in ceremony of newly elected MLAs, Udhayanidhi Stalin’s appointment as DMK Legislature Party Leader has become one of the biggest political talking points in the state.
